2026 Schedule
Forest Heritage Days 2026 runs Thursday, August 6 through Saturday, August 8 in Greenville, Maine. Some events are free and open to all; Friday’s “By Water and by Land” experience requires advance registration and is limited to 100 participants.
Thursday, August 6
History by the Lake
4:00 pm — Evening Presentation
Center for Moosehead History, 6 Lakeview Street, Greenville
The Appalachian Mountain Club opens Forest Heritage Days with a public presentation on its history in the Moosehead region. Presentation title to be announced.
5:30 pm — Happy Hour Cruise
Steamship Katahdin, Greenville Wharf
The Steamship Katahdin departs for an evening cruise on Moosehead Lake. Operated by the Moosehead Marine Museum.
Friday, August 7
By Water and by Land
Limited to 100 participants. Advanced registration required.
This signature Forest Heritage Days experience brings visitors onto Moosehead Lake and into the working forest, then gathers both groups at Lily Bay for lunch and presentations from the Appalachian Mountain Club and Weyerhaeuser.
By Water
Board the Steamship Katahdin at the Greenville wharf and cross Moosehead Lake to Lily Bay, following a historic supply route once used between Greenville and the North Woods.
By Land
Travel by bus into an active timber harvest operation with interpretation from professional foresters. See the working forest up close on land managed for timber production.
Both groups arrive at the Lily Bay Storehouse for lunch and presentations, then swap routes for the return trip. Everyone crosses the lake. Everyone goes into the woods.

Community Day
7:00–10:00 am — Lumbermen’s Breakfast
American Legion Post, 218 Pritham Avenue, Greenville
The American Legion’s famous lumbermen’s breakfast is a Greenville tradition. Come hungry.
10:00 am — Colby College Woodsmen Demonstration
Greenville Consolidated School, 130 Pritham Avenue, Greenville
The Colby College Woodsmen team brings traditional logging skills to life, including crosscut sawing, axe throwing, log rolling, and related demonstrations.
